Job Purpose

This position is responsible for providing psychiatric rehabilitation services (PRS) to clients in the life domains of living, wellness, learning, working, and socializing. The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist/Worker will conduct initial and ongoing functional assessments, develop recovery-oriented rehabilitation plans with members, and provide person-centered interventions according to each client’s plan. The goal is to help individuals develop the skills that will allow them to engage in the community, develop meaningful roles, and have lives that bring them joy. The psychiatric rehabilitation program focuses on recovery through skill training. Members chose to participate in one of several units-clerical, food service, maintenance and education. Their experiences can lead to a better understanding of the person’s illness and associated coping strategies that can support the person through their recovery. Membership fosters a sense of being and needed each day: that every individual has strengths to build upon and can make a valuable contribution.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Enable members to identify goals and areas of interest
  • Enable members to plan strategies and acquire necessary skills to reach and maintain their desired goads
  • Enable members to develop the necessary supports to maintain those goals.
  • Provide rehabilitative planning through a collaborative process between the member and the rehabilitation team and obtain the skills necessary to achieve recovery

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 2 years work experience in mental health service or a high school diploma and 4 years work experience in mental health services, 1 year of which must be work experience in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services. Candidates with CPRP certification are preferred; if not this certification must be attained within 2 years from the date of hire. Or:
  • An associate’s degree and 1 year work experience in mental health direct service.
  • A CPS certificate and 1 additional year paid or volunteer work experience in mental health direct service.
  • A high school diploma or GED and 2 years work experience in human services which must include 1 year of mental health direct service
